We are transforming with the times… Our review format is changing!
From now on, only the host (Stacy on this occasion) will write a full detailed review…

Stacy led us to the cousin of Tramshed in Shoreditch, called Hixter Bankside. The restaurant follows a very similar theme to Tramshed, also being a ‘factory’ conversion with lots of character exposed through the brickwork and metal posts, and the ‘pornographic / eccentric artwork’, including the waitresses explicit T-Shirts (image). Venue – 7
Hixter (again like Tramshed) tends to specialise in chicken and grills. They offer 2 sizes for rib steak, sirloin, chateau, and an extra mature 85-day sirloin, and sharing options for rib-on-the-bone and porterhouse. Menu – 6

Stacy chose a Chateau Des Antonins 2012 to start, which was easy drinking, smooth and light on the palette. He then followed with a Bodega La Flor Malbec 2014. It was more bodied yet still smooth - really good. Wine – 7

We had tw0 500g sirloins, I opted for the 500g rib, and a shared 1kg rib on the bone. All steaks were generally tender but under-seasoned (or lacking flavour). For the price there are better steaks at other London Steakhouses. Steak – 6

We were well looked after by a young Australian waitress who was attentive, polite and friendly when serving us. Waitress - 7

The bill came to £70 per head (about average for our steak clubs). This included 2 bottles of wine, on average 500g steaks, loads of chips, spinach, onion rings and mushrooms as sides. Value – 6

Hixter is a good night out, with decent food and a quirky atmosphere. There are better steaks around for the price, however I really like the HIX venues.
